Emmendingen, the twin town of Newark-on-Trent, will be hosting the massive Leistungsschau business exhibition for the second time. This year, both the Newark Twinning Association and local businesses from Newark have been invited to take part. There’s not long to go – the exhibition starts on Saturday 16th June.
The Leistungsschau exhibition is an innovative mix of businesses, family entertainment and cultural activities and takes over the entire industrial estate of the town. The event attracts businesses from all over the Baden-Württemberg region, which is recognised as the home of innovation in Germany.
Newark Twinning Association will be represented by Rita Crowe (Chairman) and Jo Small (Committee Member) and they will be using the event to promote Newark and its business community. The team are also taking over videos, materials, and photos from the Grove School to try and further develop links between schools in Emmendingen and Newark. It is hoped that pupils from the Grove and a school in Emmendingen will start to form their own younger twinning association – using social media such as Twitter, with support from their teachers, to establish a virtual community.
Jo Small will also be using the visit to Emmendingen as an opportunity to test reaction to Optima Training’s new virtual classroom. We think that the virtual classroom is just as good as the real thing and allows both individuals and groups to learn English in an e-learning environment but with a real trainer.
Also taking part in the trip to Emmendingen are Will and Zoe from Epix Media who will be representing Newark Business Club. The Club has kindly donated £100.00 towards the company’s travel costs. Epix Media will also be promoting their time lapse video which is ideal for the property and construction industries.
This is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen links with our twin town of Emmendingen and showcase what Newark has to offer, both culturally and from a business perspective.
