Education Services

Past Projects Include:
We have successfully completed a number of offender learning projects, including:
Prison Curriculum Review
Research and consultation project undertaken on the behalf of the Offender Learning and Skills Unit (OLSU) to examine the current state of the prison curriculum.
Offender Learning
We have been involved with a number of government initiatives to improve the level of skills for offenders in the community and in custody, and have played a part in the development of learner and support materials. This puts us in an ideal place to review the provision of learning in your establishment, and work with you to ensure that the quality of provision is maximised.
Areas of Support Provided
We specialise in supporting offender learning in the following areas:
Development of Whole Organisation Approaches
We will work with your senior management and operational teams to develop whole organisation approaches to offender learning. Flow charting techniques ensure a clear vision of the current state, and we work closely with your teams to develop approaches that are fit for purpose.
Teaching and Learning Reviews
We conduct audits of existing provision across youth offending teams, probation, and prisons in order to identify development areas. Our feedback report is normally accompanied by action plan and a programme of support for effective implementation.
Quality Assurance
Optima has a strong track record in the development of quality assurance processes for the delivery of teaching and learning. Flow charting techniques ensure a clear vision of the current state, and we work closely with your delivery and management teams to develop a consistent approach that is fit for purpose.
All work is undertaken in strictest confidence.
Who is involved?
Our entire offender learning activity is undertaken by the Education Director, Jo Small. She has a strong reputation in this field as a result of successfully providing support to probationary services and secure environments throughout the UK.
What does it cost?
The costs involved will depend on the level of input required. However, we will not do anything that has not been agreed with you beforehand. Before we begin working with you, we will undertake an initial consultation before submitting a full proposal that details all of our fees.
How do we get started?
Before accepting any new project, we need to understand your requirements. The initial consultation is free, so contact us today to find out how we can help you.
