There is only one more week to go until our Grove Language Project judging event, which will take place on Friday 4th November. We are delighted to reveal our final line-up of judges:
- Cameron Ford, Vice Chairman, Newark Business Club
- Rita Crowe, Chairman Newark Twinning Association
- Paul Hughes, Flight Sergeant, Royal Air Force
- Gerry Cepelak, Navigator, Royal Air Force
- Rose Millington, Managing Director, PrimarySite Ltd
- Heather Carroll, Director, What’s On 4 Me Nottinghamshire.
Flight Sergeant Paul Hughes is a multi-lingual (Russian, Arabic and Pashto) Non-Commissioned Aircrew Weapons System Operator currently serving at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire. He is also the winner of this year’s National Centre for Languages (CILT) Ambassador Award, which is given to individuals from business who work with schools to support language learning.
Heather Carroll becomes our first ever judge to be recruited from the Tweetiverse. Following our tweet about the language project we had an immediate response from Heather, who was keen to be involved. Heather is a linguist with a background in theatre. She manages the What’s On 4 Me Nottinghamshire franchise, a website detailing classes, activities and events all over Nottinghamshire.
We are delighted to have Rose Millington as a judge. PrimarySite moved into Newark Beacon Innovation Centre in the same year as Optima (2007) and continues to go from strength to strength in its development of websites for primary schools.
All of us at Optima would like to say a big thank you to Rue Moss, Centre Manager at Newark Beacon Innovation Centre, who always lets us use the conference facilities for the judging event and who is a strong supporter of the Grove Language Project.
Finally, good luck to all the pupils who are now entering the final stages of their preparation for Friday
