Optima is a small, proactive, family-run company that provides training focused exactly on your needs.

We started in February 2000, when Jo Small began operating Specialist German Language Services to bring a much needed fresh approach to language learning. The company was extremely successful and soon started receiving requests for further courses in English and French.

Her own reputation in the fields of language education and Skills for Life also led to a growing demand for consultancy services and so, in 2003, the company changed its name to Optima Training (UK) Limited. The new name reflected the wider offering of languages and services.

In 2005 the company was joined by Mark Small, bringing over 13 years experience in customer service industries, allowing us to provide additional business support activities.

Languages remain an important element of our activity. In 2006 we added Spanish and Italian to our core language offering and continue to deliver successful programmes across a range of sectors. By insisting that our trainers are more than just natural language speakers, but have a proven track record in relevant industries, we are able to understand your business objectives and tailor our programmes accordingly.

Recognising that organisations often have varied reasons for needing to develop language skills within the business, we adopt a modular approach to the learning delivery. This enables us to focus on particular business objectives, and deliver real results quickly.

In 2008 we introduced the Language Clubs to encourage participation in languages within the regional community. This reflects our commitment to our local region.

Our recent clients have included BASF Biocides, Pera International, the Midlands Aerospace Alliance, Enterprise Ireland, Zurich Swiss Tulle, Flowserve, Warwick University, Walsall College of Advanced Technology, Grantham College and De Montfort University.
